Almost Perfect.

The bad thing about family restaurants is the small kids. But then it wouldn't be called a family, right?

For Raina, it was almost perfect.

Being a perfectionist, Raina must have everything gone her way. In the mind of hers, a perfect vacation brings the definition of arriving the destination on time, never given a lousy service, having fun and getting back home smoothly.

Fortunately, her fiancé Alex, has given everything she wanted during their getaway at California. Strolling by the beach, feeling the wind in her hair and enjoying her ice-cream her mother-in-law certainly would not allow. It was absolutely wonderful.

After a week of paradise, Raina was cuddling in the arms of her lover. Sitting at the back seat of the cab, they were only a few miles away from their doorstep. She was exhausted physically and mentally, and she was dying to sink her feet in a bucket of ice, cold water. In her mind, Raina told herself : All that was left to perfection is ...'

She could not finish her sentence before the cab suddenly lost control and went out of the road. Everything happened so fast even a scream could not escape from Raina's throat. All she heard was a loud screech, the cab driver shrieking and then she felt the world spinning around. Alex's grip on her started to loosen, her sense of everything lost and before she knows it, she was thrown into a world of darkness.

---

Raina's whole body jerked awake when she felt a rain droplet fell on her face. She struggled to move her heavy eyelids, and her limbs were not listening to her either. Her mind dizzy and her vision blurry, Raina just lay motionless and looked at the cloud night sky. As more rain droplets came down from the sky, Raina tried to recalled what happened before she was lying on the ground. Bits of memories came flowing back into her mind and it dawned on her that she was involved in a car accident.

Suddenly, the sky roared and a flash of lightning appeared across the sky. At the same moment, as if her pain receptors were suddenly activated, Raina felt the torturing pain over her whole body. All she could do was scream. She could taste something salty in her mouth, but she was not sure it was tears or blood. With every breathe she took, she felt her life slipping away.

A thought of Alex suddenly came into Raina's mind and made her to hold herself together. Using the minimal strength she has left, she got herself up. She realized she could not feel her legs, so she used both of her hands to drag herself around. After she caught sight of Alex lying on the ground, she made her way towards him.

Ignoring the pain as glass shards pierce through her skin, the distance between them was getting closer, slowly. However, when there was only few meters between them, Raina stopped dead in her tracks. Alex's body was motionless, his chest was not moving, there was no sign of life. Dead, he was.

Raina suddenly thought of what her mother said, 'Life is never perfect.' She had only understand it now, but it was too late. Her body and mind became numb, unable to feel pain or experience sorrow. She sat under rain with Alex's body by her side and gazing into space. Her only movement later was after a scent of oil leakage went into her nostrils.

Raina immediately flipped her head to look around her surroundings. Her heart began to race when she was not only surrounded by a pool of blood, but also a sea of oil that leaked out from the cab. Without giving much thought, Raina grabbed Alex's shirt and tried to pull his body away.

A spark came to alive. Raina's eye widen in horror as she watched another spark from somewhere. A large spark ignited and in slow-motion, she saw a large explosion with flames engulfing everything in its way. First the cab was gone, followed by Alex, and then all Raina could see was a bright light.

For Raina, it was almost perfect.

It's like that's the only thing I can't get.
